Data Scientist (m/f/d) – Materials & Inverse Design for Airbus

• Exploring so-called inverse design methods based on data-driven approaches like machine learning to accelerate advanced materials design. In inverse design, optimal material configurations are derived directly from given performance requirements, minimizing the number of material optimization cycles 
• Developing and proposing research projects in the field of inverse design of composite materials & coating technologies in accordance with the Central Research & Technology strategic path 
• Scientific driven research execution with its own responsibility in a transnational organization and within an international network with many academic partners (academics, universities, technology institutes, ...), industrial partners or start-ups 
• Exchange with the entire Airus materials and surface technology ecosystem to maintain and lead the state-of-the art in the respective field 
• Continue to acquire high level technical skills in the materials science area: adopt and use artificial intelligence / machine learning tools, latest data-driven materials design approaches, optimization routines for complex structural aircraft components, etc.

• Completed studies in the field of computer science or a comparable qualfiication 
• Professional experience in the field of IT
• Good understanding of digital materials design & development tools based on artificial intelligence / machine learning with the ability to integrate experimental and numerical test data in the analysis and optimization processes is required
• Basic understanding of mechanical, thermal, and interfacial properties of simple or multicomponent materials and composites and their multifunctional properties (e.g. thermal, electrical, mechanical) is required
• Very good knowledge of using MS Office
• Knowledge in C++ / machine learning / edge computing is a must have
• Good command of data-driven approaches for solving complex problems in materials science and other research areas
• Fluent in English and German
